We want to organize this conference for you
The 21th Wood from Finland Conference will be organised in hotel Clarion Helsinki on the 15-16th of February 2023.
In 2020-2021, the sawn softwood market was hit by production curtailments, logistical challenges, supply chain disruptions, fluctuation in wood availability due to storm and beetle damages and COVID related increase in demand. However, in the middle of the volatile market many sawmills were able to generate record results.
In early 2022, the supply demand balance of softwood was shaken, again. The Russian attack on Ukraine has resulted in major shortages in global supply of sawn softwood. Simultaneously, rising inflation and interest rates combined with eroding consumer confidence are limiting investments and consumer spending. Housing is expected to cool further. Until now, geopolitical tensions have been tightening even further since the Russian attack.
Despite the gloomy operating environment, the global sawn softwood business has a silver lining. The share of wooden construction is increasing globally thanks to the climate friendly solutions wood products can provide. Currently, the supply and demand of sawn softwood are decreasing simultaneously which may result in a balance in the market.
The 21st Wood from Finland Conference offers an excellent opportunity to meet softwood professionals from around the world, hear the latest news and discuss about future prospects of the business. The Finnish Sawmills and Wood from Finland warmly welcome you to Finland in February 2023.
